Wow, that's kinda shameless. [Feb. 20th, 2010|06:37 am]
http://www.repomenarecoming.com/share_trailer.php

Really, Hollywood? REALLY?

I saw the ad for this on a website earlier, and I couldn't help but wonder, "What? They're making a sequel to Repo? Why? That movie was awful."

But no, this is actually an entirely different movie, just with the same exact premise. Men are hired by major corporation to 'repossess' transplanted (or in this case, mechanical.) organs from people who can't pay for them.

Now, while Repo was bad, at least that concept worked for it. Repo was an over-the-top, gore-fest goth-musical, that didn't take itself that seriously. Repomen, on the otherhand, seems to try to play this trope as a COMPLETELY STRAIGHT ACTION FILM.

HOLY SHIT, WHY?

Though I needed to update, after all, I haven't posted anything in my journal for several months now. Just to let you guys know, I'm no longer living in Maine, due to financial reasons, I'm back in South Carolina, though my room-mate, James, has come with me. It's not so bad, though we have to share my room. At least he doesn't snore. XD

Oh, and before I forget, THIS HAS SCARRED ME FOR LIFE:

Seriously, I love the Cinema Snob, but HOLY FUCK. AAAAAUUUUGH. D:

[mood |contemplativecontemplative]

Beoweasel's Journal, March 20, 198-Okay, I'll stop that, I'm not Rorschach.

Anyway, back in January, the girl who invited me to move to Maine and live with her and her boyfriend, broke up with said boyfriend and moved out later that month, leaving just I, our new roommate, Doug (who also had been invited to move to Maine, from Kansas.) and couch-mate, a former co-worker who sleeps on my couch.

Fast forward to March, and new roommate Doug, has decided he's not happy here in Maine, and is moving back to Kansas in April. Thus, my tiny social circle has shrunk from two to just one, that being my best-friend, James (the boyfriend of the girl who invited me.). There's really nothing for us in this state, neither he, nor I go to the local schools here, nor is there really any nerdy-type hang outs for us to lurk at (They don't even have a good comic shop. :/). We're both just here because of Elizabeth, but now that's she gone...we have no connection to the state.

So, at the moment, James and I a formulating a plan of what to do, the obvious one is for me to just pack my bags and go back to South Carolina, but while that puts me back with my family, who I care about, it does nothing for my social life, and I really don't like my home state. However, James has said that his old friends from New York, have moved to Cape Cod in Massachusetts, and believes we should move down there and be amongst them.

It seems like a good plan, in my opinion, and the weather there is supposedly more mild than the nasty shit I've seen in Biddeford.

So, does anybody care to share their thoughts on Massachusetts? Anybody familiar with the Cape Cod area?

So, it turns out, things aren't as bad as I feared. Whats funny, is while my tech-head of a roommate informed me that it must be my computer's motherboard that's really messed up, my other roommate after he got back from work this morning, managed to fix it in less than 5 minutes.

What did he do? He jiggled the cord connecting the monitor to the pc tower. The reason for this being, he believes, that when the Video Card was knocked from it's seating, it must have been damaged as it was jumbled around, thus when it was reseated, it still doesn't fit perfectly, so this causes a issue with the monitor receiving information, thus making it look like the computer isn't booting.

None the less, this is still the fault of UPS for their shitty handling of my PC.

I hate you, UPS. [Mar. 18th, 2009|05:32 am]
[mood |angryangry]

I got the new computer today, plugged in everything and switched it on...nada. Several parts of the computer had been dislodged during shipping, put those back, checked everything...things seemed fine, aside from the sutter on start up. Pleased, I went to dinner, I came back a couple of hours later to find the computer off, confused, I turned it back on...the fans and everything start up, but the computer doesn't boot. Doug, my other roommate, popped the lid, his assessment, is that the motherboard is damaged and no longer working.

Now, the computer was working just FINE before it was shipped, my mother's friend made sure everything was in working order, even played WoW on it for awhile. Now, that's it's got to me, it's borked and utterly useless with a busted motherboard. I'll have to deal with UPS tomorrow to see if they'll take responsibility for the damages and hopefully pay up on the repairs. I'm so fucking mad right now, I can't see straight. (It's funny how the box was marked 'fragile' but looked like it had been repeatedly punted and sat on.)

I hate everything.

Margret, my mother's friend and computer tech-head, is tearing apart my old computer, reducing it to its components and using the salvageable bits in the new computer she's building for me. It's going to be amazing, with a new frame, more powerful processor, the works. I can't wait to get my paws on it. Sadly, it's going to take a couple of weeks.

Last Friday, Margret requested I send the memory sticks and new graphics card I got from NEWEGG to her, so she could install them herself and update the drivers, that way, she'll know everything is working order. So, I sent them out that morning.

Today, I got an email from her, saying the shipment arrived. However, when she opened the box, the graphics card and the memory sticks were gone, the box FOR the graphics card was still there, but it was empty. Somebody opened the box, pulled out its contents, then retaped it, and sent it out. In short, a UPS shit-head stole my graphics card and memory sticks.

To say I'm angry, is an severe understatement. Whats worse, is that particular graphics card, is out of stock, so either we the old card, or buy another one. This will probably set back the time I'll have to wait even LONGER. Today was suppose to be a good day. >:/

And it continues! [Feb. 28th, 2009|09:01 am]
So, we found out what the issue was with my computer.

It turns out, it wasn't the graphics card that was running hot. Rather, it's because the front fan for my computer, which regulates the temperate for the processor, isn't turning on, and because of that, the processor has been running at obscenely high temperatures, and heat is rushing out of the heatsink and onto the graphics card.

The fan works, it starts up when the computer boots, but it doesn't do activate afterward. I have no idea how to get it working again, luckily, my mother's friend in West Virginia is offering to fix it. So I'll be sending it to her on Monday. However, it will mean I'll be without a computer again for a week or possibly two...hopefully, I won't go insane.

On a happier note, we picked up two new box-sets of Mystery Science Theater 3000 from the mall yesterday, and I can't wait to watch them.

Grrr [Feb. 27th, 2009|12:20 pm]
[mood |annoyedannoyed]

If it's not my computer that annoys me, it's my body. I've since come down with a nasty viral infection of the nose and throat, leaving me with a great deal of congestion and a scratchy throat to boot. What's more annoying than the sore throat, is that this infection has apparently left my sense of taste and smell deadened. I can't taste ANYTHING, so eating at the moment is no longer enjoyable, but simply a chore to stave off hunger.

What's weird, is that my nose isn't stopped up, I can breathe fairly well, it's just that I can't taste anything or smell anything either. I hope this passes quickly, I fear this could drive me nuts. :/

Bloody computer *punts* [Feb. 26th, 2009|02:11 pm]
[mood |blahblah]

So, about a month ago, my computer caught a nasty trojan virus. Said virus corrupted Explorer, causing the damn thing to crash on start-up. I ended up sending the thing to Best Buy in hopes the Geeks there could repair it. After a week of impatience, I gave up, and told them to just wipe the damn thing.

When I got the computer back, I have noticed a major problem that I didn't have before. Namely, my graphics card has been getting too hot (As it tells me, and beeps at me constantly.) while I've been playing games it had no trouble with before, like WoW and Warhammer Online. There have been two occasions where the computer has gotten too hot and shut it self down.

I've installed all the drivers, and even installed an additional fan, but still, the overheating issue pops up, and I play all my games now at reduced settings in fear of my computer exploding.

Right now, I'm planning on getting a new graphics card (Which doesn't have a fan, but a enormous heat sink.) and some new memory sticks (Replacing the 2gig I have in there now, and increasing overall memory to 4gig.) Probably try to fit another fan in there too.

I still want to know the central issue, however, and try to figure what's the root cause.

Can we put Sonic to rest, please?

Sonic and the Black Knight is due for release in March, and I can't imagine why. After the horribleness that was Sonic Unleashed, why are they planning to release ANOTHER Sonic Game. This time, the gimmick is the offering of sword combat...but why? That just seems like something that gets in the way of what made Sonic popular to begin with, THE SPEED. Why interrupt me running like a bat-out-of-hell by shoving a sword in my hand and waste time poking baddies with it?

The Sonic franchise reminds me of a show dog. In it's prime, it entertained thousands of youngsters, and it was beloved. But then Sonic got old, and as it got old, it started having seizures. Before long, it just lays there twitching and drooling, and should have been put out of it's misery years ago. Instead, the owner pipes up now and then, "Hold on! I taught it a new trick!" He cries, and then he stabs it in the eye with a stick.

In other words, Team Sonic, leave my childhood alone. :P
